Become Baer’s kidney donor

We know, we know, this is an intimidating thought. But, you only need 1 kidney after all! So isn’t it kind of selfish to hog your spare? JUST KIDDING! Seriously, no pressure - we just use dark humor to cope at times.

Did you know that there is an increase in the longevity and effectiveness of a kidney transplant based on if it came from a living donor or a deceased donor?

As May 11th, 2023 Baer was officially accepted into the Texas Children’s Hospital Transplant Program in Houston. It has been a rollercoaster since finding out that he would not be able to receive his transplant at Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin, though after meeting with the TCH Houston team we are thrilled for Baer to receive this life saving care there.

The next step is for us to find a Living Donor Match for Baer. Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston is the adult donor program matched with TCH. The testing and coordinator for living donors will be done through their coordinator, Jane DeLeon. We only get one lifetime on this earth, why not help someone live their best life and give the gift of a life saving kidney. Plus, how cool is it to say that you were part of a positive change in this ever darkening world?
